Frances Peel Biography
Frances Peel
In 2001 I moved from County Down in Northern Ireland to study architecture at the Glasgow School of Art. Having been awarded the highest grade in Northern Ireland for my A-Level art exhibition I continued to develop my painting skills during my time at university through undertaking regular commissions in order to supplement my student loan. I also gained inspiration from the stunning Scottish landscape through frequent explorations to the coast and highlands during the weekends and holidays.
Since graduating from university I have remained in Glasgow working as an architect and have taken advantage of the additional free time to develop my career in painting, exhibiting in galleries throughout Scotland and Northern Ireland. My paintings are predominantly inspired by the Scottish landscape and are created with oil on canvas as I enjoy the textures, contrasts and movement which can be exploited through this medium.
